Earlier on Sunday in Geelong, in the opening match of the T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka’s skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl against Namibia. Unfortunately for the Asia Cup champions, left-arm quick bowler, Dilshan Madushanka got hurt. Thus they had to bring in Dushmantha Chameera and Pramod Madushan. However, Namibia’s captain Gerhard Erasmus indicated he would have fielded if he had won the toss.
Former champions Sri Lanka face off against Namibia in today’s opening match of the T20 WC in Geelong. On the 16-21st of October, eight teams, comprising Sri Lanka, West Indies, Namibia, Ireland, the Netherlands, UAE, Zimbabwe, and Scotland, will compete for four slots in the Super-12 stage.
