T20 World Cup 2022 Highlights: Sri Lanka vs. United Arab Emirates

The best part of the Twenty20 World Cup 2022 qualifying match between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates, which took place at Simonds Stadium in Geelong, was that Sri Lanka was bowled out for 152. Karthik Meiyappan was the man to beat with the ball. He got rid of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka, and Dasun Shanaka to get the first hat trick of this year’s Twenty20 World Cup. Pathum Nissanka did a good job for Sri Lanka at the crease, scoring 74 runs in 60 balls.

Sri Lanka made 84 runs in the first ten overs of their innings. This is a good sign that they will make a big score. Kusal Mendis was the first batsman to be out after Pathum Nissanka got Sri Lanka off to a good start. He was out for 18 runs.

Since then, both Dhannjaya de Silva and Nissanka have been very cautious. Even though they’ve only lost nine wickets so far, Sri Lanka’s last 10 overs are likely to be big. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis have done much to strengthen Sri Lanka’s offence. Dasun Shanaka’s team is the underdog, but they really need to win this game. Junaid Siddiqui got things going, but Kashif Daud gave up 14 runs in the second over.

Since then, Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka have been a one-two punch. As captain, Sri Lanka, led by Dasun Shanaka, will play the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, October 2, at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. This is their second match in the Qualifiers. After their first game against Namibia, Sri Lanka will realise that they have almost no chance of making it to the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Also, the captain of the United Arab Emirates, Chundangapoyil Rizwan, knows very well what will happen to his team if they lose this match, which is a must-win for both teams. Sri Lanka would be the favourite to win, but Rizwan’s team would have a lot of hope after Namibia played bravely against the defending champions. UAE is in third place in Group A because they have a higher net run rate than Sri Lanka. Since there won’t be much dew in the match’s second half, the long boundaries will give the spinners another chance to shine as explored by The UK Time.
