In Madrid, Spain four cases of the new variant are confirmed. All four are from the UK and none of them is seriously ill. Switzerland has announced the confirmation of three cases of new variant and two are known as British citizens. Thousands of British tourists entered the country because Switzerland is the alone country in the EU that is keeping its ski slopes open for Christmas and New Year.
France banned its border with the UK after the confirmation of the first case of a new variant but open its borders again for EU travelers on Wednesday. France travelling authorities have made it compulsory for everyone to provide reports of the negative test before entering.
France has also confirmed its first case of the new variant. The health ministry said “the patient is the French citizen in the Central town of Tours. He went to London for an official trip and arrived on December 19. Ministry has confirmed that the man living in the UK was asymptomatic and now in quarantine in his house.
The Health agency of Sweden said that “a traveler was ill and have strains of the new variant. He was too returned from his trip to the UK and now self-isolating in house.”
New cases of the new variant in Denmark, Italy, Germany, Australia, and the Netherland were reported earlier this week.
