T20 World Cup, Namibia vs. the Netherlands, Group A
At Simonds Stadium in Geelong on Tuesday, the Netherlands defeated Namibia by five wickets thanks largely to the efforts of openers Vikramjit Singh (39 runs) and Max ODowd (35 runs). Two wickets were taken by JJ Smit, who played for Namibia.
A few early wickets fell for the Netherlands when they elected to bat, but Jan Frylinck’s 43 runs helped them post a respectable total of 121/6 in their allotted 20.0 overs. Bas de Leede, a bowler for the Dutch team, took two wickets as reported by The UK Time.
Both squads have a win on the board after the first game. The Netherlands won against the UAE by three wickets, and Namibia won against Sri Lanka by 55 runs.
Even though they lost their Dutch courage, the Netherlands beat Namibia by five wickets on Tuesday at the T20 World Cup in Geelong, Australia. They needed one more win to get to the Super 12 round. After being 92 for two with more than six overs left, the Netherlands lost three wickets for ten runs, bringing the score to a tense 121 for six.
Man of the Match Bas de Leede (30 not out) hit fast bowling all-rounder David Wiese over his head for four, hitting two more runs down the ground with three balls left to seal the win. If the United Arab Emirates can pull off an upset against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, the Netherlands will move on to the Super 12s. The Netherlands won Group A by beating the Emiratis 2-1 on Sunday.
