The ICC announced on November 13 that the winning team at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, held in Melbourne, will get $1.6 million in prize money. The team that comes in second will get $800,000.
At the end of the tournament, which has 16 teams and lasts for more than a month, the two teams that made it to the semi-finals but didn’t win will each get $400,000 from the total prize pool of $5.6 million.
The eight teams that don’t make it to the next round after the Super 12 will get $70,000. In the Super 12 phase of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, each of the 30 games will be worth $40,000. This is the same as the previous year.
The eight qualifying teams are as follows:
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Australia, England, India, New Zealand, and Pakistan. This is the eighth squad representing South Africa.
In the first round, there will be two groups of four teams each.
- Group A will consist of Namibia, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates.
- Group B will feature West Indies, Scotland, Ireland, and Zimbabwe.
It has been decided to split the remaining eight teams into two groups of four.
Each match in the first round has a prize fund of $40,000, for a total of $480,000.
The four squads that were knocked out in the first round will split $80,000.
