Everybody loves music! But everybody loves it in a different way. Some people just like to listen to music and enjoy it, while others love it so much that they start actually playing it.

If you are one of the later ones, you have come to the right place.

Playing music isn’t easy. There are hundreds of different instruments and hundreds of ways of using them to create different variations of sounds. However, step by step, you can master that art. First of all, you need to think about the reason you want to learn to play music.

Are you thinking about becoming a professional in the music industry, or are you just trying to make music your new hobby? Whatever your reason might be, music can certainly expand the horizons of your imagination and instill discipline in you.

Once you know your purpose, you can select a musical instrument you want to work on. To help you make that decision, below is a list of 9 musical instruments you can easily learn at home.

  • Bass Guitar

Bass guitar is one of the easiest instruments and the best way for beginners to gain some music composition experience. Bass guitar is a fundamental musical instrument, known to be used in different genres of music.

Bass guitar is very similar to acoustic guitar, except bass guitar only has 4 strings instead of acoustic’s 6. Due to a low number of strings, it becomes very easy for beginners to learn. Moreover, learning acoustic guitar becomes much easier after bass guitar.

However, you still need to practice as much as you can to get the sense of how bass guitar actually produces rhythms that are worldwide famous.

  • Ukulele

Ukulele is just a small and portable guitar with nylon strings. This mini-guitar is a great instrument, to begin with, if you plan to become a guitarist in the future. Ukulele has nylon strings, which are much easier to play than the nickel or steel strings of a conventional guitar.

Its small size makes it easy for fingers to coordinate with strings, which makes it a perfect instrument for young musicians. Ukulele isn’t used in conventional music unless the genre demands it specifically, but it has gained quite some popularity because of its untraditional style.

Not only is it easy to play, but its sound is very soothing, and you can play it lightly all day long.

  • Acoustic Guitar

The acoustic guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments of all time. It is hard to imagine a song nowadays that doesn’t have a guitar in it. A classical guitar can land anywhere between the four-string and eighteen-string categories. But the more conventional one is a six-string acoustic guitar, and that’s the one you need to get your hands on in the beginning stage.

If you have learned ukulele or bass guitar before, learning acoustic guitar would be very easy. That being said, there are countless numbers of variations of coordination between strings and fingers, so you need to practice as much as you can to gain full exposure. • Violin

Another popular musical instrument of the ‘strings family’ is the violin. It has the power to create the lowest and highest pitches of sound. It typically has four strings which are played by drawing a fiddlestick across the strings (yes, another name for violin is fiddle).

Violins are known to contribute a lot to jazz, country, and folk music. But nowadays, when music has reached beyond the limitations of genre, the violin can be used anywhere it sounds good. It is very easy to learn. For beginners, buying a small-sized fiddle would be wise. It can really help with musical discipline and hand coordination.

  • Keyboard

Now we are out of the strings’ family and in the family of the keyboard. Another name for a keyboard is an electric piano, but the keyboard is more than just a piano. It is capable of producing a variety of different sounds using synthetic tones. In other words, it uses electronics to create sound instead of manually.

A keyboard is very easy to learn – since there isn’t much work apart from pressing buttons – and is very low-maintenance. The keyboard is known among children with a passion for music. But adults who want to familiarize themselves with different musical instruments and what sound they create can also buy a keyboard to gain some experience.

  • Piano

Some people also call the piano a keyboard, but particularly, a piano is a whole different thing, an unparalleled musical instrument – one of its kind. A modern piano has 52 white and 36 black keys. Every single key is capable of producing a different sound, and this combination of 88 keys is what produces an incredible melody.

To learn versatile, sophisticated music, the piano is your best option. Not only piano will familiarize you with different dynamics of music, but it will also instill the art of creative expression in you, along with different psychological advantages. It enhances motor and memory skills, increases the ability to focus, and becomes a source of stress relief and boosting up self-esteem. To make sure your creative energy is channeled properly, you can take part in Online Piano Music Lessons.

  • Drums

Another instrument that’s one of its kind is the drums. Drums exist in different varieties of shapes and sizes and produce sound when beaten with a drumstick. Drums were mainly a part of rock music, but now they are used in all kinds of music to provide a strong beat. Even in slow, sad songs, drums are used to provide a challenging effect.

Drums are a great way to manage your frustration, aggression, and disappointment. Since drums are a bit expensive, a lot of people use drum applications on phones to learn them. However, an electric drum set is cheaper and can be used to take classes from home.

  • Recorder

We have discussed string-based instruments, key-based instruments, and drums. Now, we will talk about instruments that you play from the mouth. A recorder is a popular instrument that has been in music production for a long time. However, it is more popular in school music classes than in professional music.

That being said, the recorder has been the source of some high-quality music production in the current times. It’s all about perception. A recorder is a perfect instrument for beginners to learn hand-to-mouth coordination. A plus point: it’s incredibly cheap.

  • Trumpet

Another instrument that requires the use of hands and mouth, a trumpet is for those who are into jazz. A trumpet takes a great deal of skill to play; the air is blown strategically into the pipe while the use of fingers takes control over other holes to create a melodramatic sound effect.

A trumpet requires extreme lung capacity and long stamina. For those who are into jazz and classical music, the trumpet is the perfect way to start. And with the help of countless youtube tutorials, you can easily learn this at home.

Trombone, saxophone, clarinet, and bagpipe are other members of this family. Some of them aren’t that easy to learn, but if you start with trumpet, you are going to have it easy with other instruments.
