Bike rides make the impossible possible – pedalling from England’s capital to Essex and the magnificent capital of France is now possible. Besides the incredible chance to explore Europe’s greatest cities, you also contribute to a charity dedicated to life-changing research across the UK. Children who fight illness can be helped thanks to this fundraising event where participants can challenge their biking talent.

These bucket-list rides might be your chance to see riding through other lenses. For more details about the adventure that is waiting for you, read on.

London To Paris

The adventure begins in England’s capital, which you will leave behind to explore the wonders of France further. The ride will get you pedalling through glorious English countryside, passing through the so-called Garden of England (Kent), cycling through the mediaeval villages and market towns of France, and eventually reaching Paris.

You have to be a morning person this time, as there will be an early start from Crystal Palace in London so as not to get stuck in the morning traffic. London’s roads will be quiet, and it will not be long until you find yourself among the rolling fields and rural areas of marvellous Kent. The Garden of England is packed with spectacular landscapes, historical castles, dramatic crags, and charming oast houses and orchards. You will bike on country roads across the low-lying hills of the North Downs to Dover and continue to the coast, where the old and tranquil villages and market towns of Northern France will be waiting for you. But before that, you have to cross the Channel to Calais by ferry.

Charity bike rides are some of the most rewarding experiences you can indulge in, as they show you the world as it is – dynamic and challenging yet so beautiful. Plus, they allow you to use your bike as a tool for good and help those in need. Such rides also give you a chance to meet people you would never have and hence create bonds of friendship.

Ride London

RideLondon includes different types of races for everyone to enjoy. Please see above the most popular to participate in:

RideLondon-Essex 100 is one of the most iconic races in the event. Just as the name implies, the race gives participants the chance to pedal 100 miles through London and Essex, passing famous landmarks and picturesque countryside sceneries. This year’s route will start from Epping Forest, central Epping, Ongar, Leaden Roding, Great Dunmow, Felsted, and Writtle. Before returning to Ongar and back into London. Riders prepare for the event and cross the finish line with a 12-week training plan.

RideLondon-Essex 60 and 30-mile rides are a great alternative to the 100 miles one, offering just as much excitement and thrill but with considerably less effort. Cyclists aged 16 or over are only eligible to participate and can take part in these three races. Those who are 16 or 17 will need to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

Last but not least, there’s RideLondon FreeCycle, the much-awaited race that gives riders of all ages and abilities the possibility to take part in this massive cycling event and ride on the traffic-free roads of London that make for a spectacular feeling. For those who are worried they are not prepared  to participate in a cycling event, FreeCycle comes with zero pressure. Participants can cycle at their own pace and stop as often as they want to rest their legs or have some refreshments.

Lastly, there are several Festival Zones along the way where people can take part in all multiple activities, such as outdoor games and challenges, delicious dishes tasting at food markets, watch stunt shows and displays from leading bike brands and enjoy the lively carnival atmosphere.

What is the key information to the events?

  • Ride London: The event will take place on Sunday 28 May. There are only 8 places left, so hurry up!
  • London to Paris: The event will take place on Wednesday 19 – Sunday 23 July.
