A piece of exciting news from Virgin media O2 has emerged, revealing its 5G network hitting two-thirds of London city, essentially affording the capital city the biggest 5g footprint within the group.

The UK time has put together this ultimate guide for you to explain Virgin Media deals in detail, so stay tuned!

Virgin Media Deals

The telecoms giant Virgin Media 5G has pledged to invest a minimum of £10bn in the UK and delivered 5G to over 2,000 sites across the country just last year. Virginmedia UK, in a skilled stroke of telecom diplomacy, has promised to reach over 50% of the UK population with its fast services in 2023.

Virgin media mobile finished its wider gigabit launch in December, which means more than 15.5 million homes across the United Kingdom have now access Virgin Media Broadband with an average download speed of 1,130Mbps.

The need and importance of boosted connectivity were emphasised in the recent research from economic modelling experts at Oxford Analytica – stating that investment in full-fibre and Virgin media mobile connectivity could give birth to more than 68,000 jobs only in the capital and effectively boost London’s economy over £16bn by the year 2026.

The findings published in Digital Connectivity Index also revealed how the digital infrastructure investment could curb and tackle inequality.

More good news from Virgin Media customer service for Londoners is Virgin Media O2 has boosted its 4G capacity with 41,228 postcodes across the city in 2021 and more than 241,000 in the entire UK. The Virgin Media O2 has continued to expand its Wi-Fi connectivity and network across the Tube, providing connectivity at more than 250+ stations – which approximately represents 97 percent of the London Underground network.

This is followed by a huge investment in fixed Virgin Media Broadband network expansion and advancements across London over the last 6 years. The company is following up to extend its footprint to reach 340,000 more premises in London with its Project Lightning programme. It has made gigabit broadband available to over 6 million Londoners – offering speeds up to 16 times faster than the capital’s average.

What Virginmedia UK says about this?

Virgin Media O2 chief tech officer Jeanie York is quoted:

“Providing a 5G boost is part of our long-standing investment in the capital and our mission to upgrade the UK through ongoing investment in 4G, 5G, fixed broadband and innovative new services. We are taking a customer-centric approach to our mobile network strategy, which centres on optimising our network where our customers need them most.”

To sum up, the statement elaborates that the denser the population around a new base station, the more people will be served through it. Virgin Media problems aside, the newfangled technology and its challenges elaborate that there is little to no benefit of building 5G cells anywhere rather than the inner cities, as at this current stage, the technology is still evolving and maturing, and higher frequencies needed to offer a meaningful bandwidth boost has inferior propagation properties, for now at least.

Stay tuned for the latest updates and news.

As is the case for most telecom infrastructure investments, it is obligatory to frame Virgin Media deals and investments as a national strategic breakthrough. The only surprise came when there was the apparent absence of a politician hanging onto the coat-tails of the announcement – at least for once.

Some media outlets were also lured into broadcasting press releases that read Virgin Media O2 will finance at least £10 billion in the UK as an investment, making it sound like a new pledge; however, if it were, you would rather see this as the focus of the announcement.

Virgin Media 5G also launched its new TV ad, in which the company showcases the unlimited power of its ultrafast connectivity. The ad tells the story of Aamira, a young skater befriended by a skating crew after her drop-in attempt didn’t go as planned. After conversing with these new friends online and in real life, the ad sheds light and frames the power of staying connected.

Virgin Media Customer Service

Virgin Media O2 revealed the impact of upgrades and expansion to fixed networks in addition to mobile networks – the operator showcased its 5G network extended reach of more than 64% of the population – with further expanded footprint coming owing to the recently deployed low-band Virgin Media 5G spectrum.

Virgin Media Broadband

The Virgin Media O2 emphasised the importance of improved connectivity with the recent research from economic modeling experts; the study found that investment in full-fibre, broadband and mobile connectivity could unlock thousands of new jobs in the capital only – boosting the economy over £15 billion in 5 years.

The capital has the biggest 5G footprints within Virgin Media O2’s network, with the company saying that the uptake of the ultrafast service is increasing. Virgin Media deals pledge more than £10bn investments in the UK only. Also, the company boasts 5G coverage in more than 300 towns and cities across the UK.

Virgin Media Customer service announcements have promised a 50% reach of the UK population with 5G services in 2023.

Virgin Media Statistics

The Virgin Media O2 now claims the largest share of the low-band 5G spectrum – enabling the mobile signals to travel further long distances – among the top network operators, a step that it explains as paving the way for stronger and more reliable Virgin Media Customer service experiences.

Furthermore, in addition to enhancing the 5G footprint, the Virgin media O2 has upgraded its 4G capacity to more than 40,000 postcodes across the capital and more than 241,000 in the entire UK. The company has also offered boosted connectivity to 97% of London’s Underground network.

Are Virgin and 02 the same?

Virgin Media and O2 are two of the largest telecom companies in the industry, officially merging in a 50:50 JV – Joint Venture between the owners the Telefonica and Liberty Global.

What is Volt from O2?

Volt from O2 offers excellent benefits of being a Virgin Media O2 Volt customer, which includes: A broadband speed that is upgradable to the next tier – for instance, 100Mbps boosted to 200Mbps. In addition to double mobile data on all eligible O2 pay monthly plans.
